The herpes simplex virus, also known as HSV, is an infection that causes herpes.
It is uncommon for HSV-2 to be found on the lips, but it is becoming more common to find HSV-1 in the genital area.
Talk to your doctor if you have any questions about herpes and your pregnancy.
Complications are rare and most often occur with the first herpes outbreak.
During this time, it is possible to spread HSV to other areas of your body, such as the hands and fingers, anus and eyes.
